I’m sure the world doesn’t need any more voices in the chaos and the last thing anyone wants is to hear yet another asshole’s ‘edgy’ reporting of current affairs, but sometimes when things get really strange I guess it’s better to just vomit it up rather than keep it in. Shrek said so, so yeah.

To be honest I had no intentions of working on new music right now. I just finished the Witness Check album and I was pretty stoked with the whole thing. It seems like I had successfully said whatever it was that album needed to say and I was ready to pack it all up until the next album; but then the nice folks at EMG had the great idea of putting together a virus-themed compilation album. Now, typically I suck at writing for a theme; the idea of writing specifically with something in mind generally ends up sounding pretty contrived and disingenuous, but with this; everything just worked out. Seemed like the song wanted to exist after all. So, kicking and screaming, ‘Vectors’ has been born.

Making art is strange. On some level it feels so real and vital to get these things out rather than keep them bottled up, but then in reality it’s probably something more akin to a kid’s macaroni picture - a cry for attention, maybe. It’s somehow the most important and least important thing at the same time. And then to have to pimp it is even weirder. “Hey, listen to me moan for 5 minutes!” How self absorbed do you have to be to try to get other people to spend their time listing to your “art”? It’s so gross. And then you could just play the honesty card like I’m doing now, but that’s a virtue signal in and of itself. It’s messy.

Regardless, it doesn’t matter at the end of the day.

Some clichéd advice to round off? Cool! Stay safe everyone. There’s always light at the end of the tunnel and we will all come out of this stronger and wiser. That’s the only guarantee in all of this, and I guess that’s pretty neat. Remember, we give away love much more than we give away a virus. A virus is temporary but love is forever. BRUH.

We’re all on this desert island floating through space together and we’re all equally as naïve as each other. Turn off the news. Delete the news app from your phone. It really won’t kill us to not hear the latest toxic headline for a change. Clearly, I’m just as full of shit and I definitely know nothing, but ya know; if I had any advice that I think is worth my salt it’s that. Life is more than headlines. Not engaging with the media as much doesn’t mean you’re not adopting social responsibility - it just means you’re prioritising the real reasons we’re all alive. “Don’t let your hearts be troubled.” Just my 2 cents anyway.

So right after moaning about people having too many opinions, that’s my opinion. Sorry.
